Spacing follows the cultivar's mature size: dwarf azaleas stay 1 to 2 ft tall while large ones reach 12 ft.
Set the root ball about 1 in above grade in sandy soil and 2 to 4 in above grade in clay; planting too deep stunts or kills azaleas.
