Potatoes are planted from seed pieces of at least 2 ounces with one or more eyes, 2 to 3 weeks before the last frost once the soil is at least 50°F; plan on 8 to 10 pounds of seed potatoes per 100 feet of row.
Hill soil around the plants as they grow so the tubers have room and do not turn green.
