How the vinyl fence cost calculator works
Vinyl fence is sold and installed in panels between posts, but it is quoted by the linear foot. The calculator takes your fence line, subtracts the gate openings, and multiplies the rest by the published installed range for the height or style you pick. Gates are priced separately, by type, because HomeAdvisor's vinyl gate range alone runs $300 to $1,500.
Installed cost = fenced length (ft) × price per ft for the height or style + gates × price for that gate type + removal + permit
The height ranges come from Fixr's 2025 vinyl guide. The privacy figure is HomeAdvisor's, and the picket range spans both.
A worked example
A 150 foot line with two corners and one 4 foot walk gate leaves 146 feet of fence. With HomeAdvisor's vinyl walk gate at $300 to $1,500:

For the 6 foot fence, materials at $10 to $30 per foot come to $1,460 to $4,380 and labor at $5 to $10 per foot to $730 to $1,460. Swap the walk gate for a double drive gate and the 6 foot total becomes $2,690 to $7,840.
Why is the 6 foot range so wide?
Fixr's 6 foot range starts at the same $15 as its 4 foot range and runs to $40. Panel choice is most of that spread: Fixr prices one vinyl panel from about $70 for basic white privacy to $500 for a designer black panel. HomeAdvisor's separate privacy figure of $25 to $60 per foot sits above Fixr's 6 foot range at both ends. If your quote comes in above $40 per foot for a plain 6 foot fence, ask what panel and post it prices.
Which vinyl gate do you need?
Gates are where vinyl quotes swing the most. The calculator lists every gate type the sources price:

How much is labor for a vinyl fence?
HomeAdvisor gives $5 to $10 per foot for vinyl installation labor, or $35 to $50 an hour; Fixr gives $30 to $60 an hour. Materials run $10 to $30 per foot in both guides. Posts are about $25 each on HomeAdvisor. With 146 feet and a panel fence, labor is the smaller share, so building it yourself saves less than it does on wood or chain link.
What about repairs, removal and permits?
HomeAdvisor prices vinyl fence repair at about $30 per foot. Tearing out an old fence of any kind runs $3 to $5 per foot, or $450 to $750 for this 150 foot line. The permit switch adds $20 to $400, the span between HomeAdvisor's and Fixr's permit figures; your town sets the real fee.
