How the aluminum fence cost calculator works
Aluminum fence comes in ready-made panels, but installers quote it by the linear foot. The calculator takes your fence line, subtracts any gate openings, and multiplies the fenced length by the installed range for ornamental or pool aluminum. Gates, removal of an old fence and a permit are added as separate lines, and the chart prices the same line in steel, wrought iron, vinyl and chain link.
Installed cost = fenced length (ft) × price per ft + gates × price per gate + removal + permit
The calculator opens at 200 feet with no gate, so the common "200 feet of aluminum fence" question is answered before you type anything.
What does 200 feet of aluminum fence cost?
At HomeAdvisor's 2026 range for black ornamental aluminum, $15 to $55 per foot installed:
- 200 × $15 = $3,000
- 200 × $55 = $11,000
So 200 feet of ornamental aluminum fence costs $3,000 to $11,000 installed, before gates. Fixr's 2025 range of $15 to $40 per foot would put the same fence at $3,000 to $8,000. An aluminum pool fence, which HomeAdvisor prices at $15 to $25 per foot, comes to $3,000 to $5,000 for 200 feet.
If you install it yourself, the materials alone run $10 to $30 per foot on Fixr, or $2,000 to $6,000 for 200 feet. Labor is $5 to $10 per foot, $1,000 to $2,000.
Adding a gate
Add a 4 foot walk gate and the fenced length drops to 196 feet: the fence costs $2,940 to $10,780 and the gate $150 to $1,200 (HomeAdvisor's range for a fence gate), for $3,090 to $11,980. A 12 foot aluminum driveway gate is a bigger item: HomeAdvisor's gate guide gives $2,090 to $3,150. With that gate instead, 188 feet of fence plus the drive gate comes to $4,910 to $13,490. HomeAdvisor's steel and aluminum page gives gates from $100 to more than $4,000, so a gate quote outside the calculator's range is not unusual.
Why is the aluminum range so wide?
HomeAdvisor's $55 high end is well above Fixr's $40, and the two agree only on the $15 low end. Airtasker's August 2026 guide goes higher still, at $27 to $80 per foot. When you compare quotes, ask each installer for the panel height, style and post size, so you compare the same fence.

Aluminum and steel overlap for most of their ranges. Wrought iron starts higher, and its gates cost far more: HomeAdvisor puts a wrought iron gate at $600 to $8,500 or more. The chart below the calculator shows all of these for your own line.
Removal and permits
Tearing out and hauling away an old fence runs $3 to $5 per foot on HomeAdvisor's steel and aluminum page, $600 to $1,000 for 200 feet. HomeAdvisor lists a fence permit at $20 to $60; Fixr gives $70 to $400. The calculator's permit switch adds $20 to $400.
